Facebook acquires CrowdTangle: CrowdTangle is a social media buzz tracker and specializes in tracking hot content on social networks for media agencies and others. Its users include Google, BuzzFeed, Ringier, UNICEF etc. The social media giant is expecting CrowdTangle technology to facilitate more meaningful and accurate insights that gets published on the network. Facebook has also promised to raise the transparency level by launching a new blog on its website namely, Metrics FYI. The platform would share the updates as well as corrections for its data so that advertisers and audience could get the right picture. In order to make the process transparent, the company also plans to form a ‘Measurement Council’, which shall have measurement experts from clients as well as ad agencies. Read more...

Whatsapp now allows video calls: The most loved messaging app is adding fully encrypted video calling feature. The company is making efforts to ensure that voice and video work well even on low end phones. Not just that, the service would allow users to flick an in-progress video call to the side to minimize it, while they check their messages and emails. Know more about it here.

After ‘Tried It’ tab, Pinterest now launches an ‘Explore’ section: Looks like Pinterest is aggressively adding interesting features to keep its audience super entertained and engaged. Last week, we talked about its ‘Tried It’ feature, this week the platform has launched an ‘Explore’ section where the users can get a look at “Today’s Picks”.
