Potluck at OMLogic

The food factor is strong at OMLogic; from high-stakes betting on chips, buffet-like ambience in the cafeteria during lunch, and the constant craving for Maggi (blame the amazing smell from the kitchen), you get the point. So, as the year-end approaches, why not bond over some delicious food? And voila, we have the Potluck!

Amid all our other year-end shenanigans, Potluck is one that really sets us forth for the upcoming year. Mind you, it’s no trivial matter: Our CEO and Senior Management sit with individual teams and spend about 15 hours in total. The motive behind it is to give the people who aren’t able to interact with the management a chance to voice their opinions and concerns. There are meetings in advance to decide who will bring what lest we end up with 8 people bringing pasta. The potluck also brings out some hidden chefs from the teams. While some people suddenly embody Sanjeev Kapoor, there are also people who can’t help but prepare their zomato special.

It is a common saying that one shouldn’t talk while eating. but this is OMLogic we’re talking about; we never go by the rules. So we do the exact opposite. We talk and talk, there is no restriction to the things you can discuss. About 15 people gather at a time and discuss everything, be it general life, work life, poor jokes, controversial opinions, we welcome it all. These conversations sometimes turn into heated debates as well, but hearing and challenging hatke opinions has been our style anyway.

We always value open and honest conversations with our employees, so when they tell us about what issues they’ve been facing at work, we listen. Our management is right there to reply to each of their concerns and offer feedback and solutions. We also discuss the future vision for the team, and how they can improve and accelerate their career. Neither we hold back our opinions, and nor our employees are made to do the same. The result is we get closer, more transparent and prepared to tackle the coming year.

This year-end potluck activity has been a crucial part of OMLogic. We don’t consider it a cultural thing, it is rather a requirement. It is part of what we think makes us right. A company can’t function well when its employees aren’t satisfied and heard. So listening to them helps us get a clean slate for the coming new year. It is what we consider the perfect ending to our year. We are now also incorporating this same practice in Solh Wellness.
