While Facebook added automatic subtitling for page videos, WhatsApp announced that it was phasing out compatibility with older phones. Here’s all that’s new in the social media world.

WhatsApp stops working on older Android, iPhone, Windows 7 models: The instant messaging app has stopped working on older smartphones. Anyone using a smartphone running on Android 2.2 Froyo or older versions of Android, apart from an iPhone 3GS or iOS 6 and lower versions of iOS, will find that WhatsApp has stopped working on their smartphones. While Android users have been recommended to upgrade, or switch to newer devices, BlackBerry and Nokia Symbian users have time till June 2017 to upgrade. Read more here.

Facebook added automatic subtitling for page videos: When you upload a video to your Facebook Page, you will now have the option to upload an SRT file or have Facebook automatically generate captions for your videos. This feature would certainly help increase viewership of the videos. Catch all the action here.

Google launches 'Digital Unlocked' in India: Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai announced the ‘Digital Unlocked’ initiative in collaboration with the IT Ministry of India and FICCI. The initiative is aimed at bringing small businesses of the country online. Read more about the move here.
