Welcome to the world of Social Media!!!
Social Media is believed to be a trendsetter in the industry that provides a level playing field to everyone, from big corporate houses to single entrepreneurs. However, if you analyze closely, the expertise required to manage a social media campaign is extremely cost-prohibitive. Most of the times, small businesses cannot afford to hire help for implementation. As a company that offers online marketing services to SMBs, this becomes our major roadblock. Though these companies can afford our more cost-effective SEO campaigns, or more direct revenue generating PPC campaigns, they can’t afford our brand promotion based social media campaigns.
With every obstacle comes a great innovation!!!
Having realized this challenge, we started working on developing a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) guide for social media. The intent of this guide is to provide smaller companies with a complete self-starter kit, which can help them leverage social media in their businesses and see some results. Our objective is to reach-out to our target audience effectively, by keeping them engaged in an on-going basis, with minimum investment.
Before talking about what this kit is, let’s first talk about what this is not.
This is not a ‘feel-good’ book of case studies. It is focused on providing you with simple, easy-to-use and effective social media solutions, which you can implement in your business.
This is not a guide for social media experts, to measure the extent of their expertise.
So, what exactly is this Toolkit?
This is a simple step-by-step guide on how to implement social media in a start up, with detailed descriptions, and dos and don’ts to keep in mind.
This guide contains information on how to develop social media policies for your company, as well as your employees. Most companies would need to have custom policies based on their internal processes. We also provide a service to write these policies for you. Please write to us at info@omlogic.com for details.
What are the prerequisites for using this Toolkit?
This Toolkit is of use to anyone, with a limited or little knowledge of social media, like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and some of the other Web 2.0 tools (you may not be using them and may not have profiles on any of them). We assume that the reader has some sense of marketing in general, and understands what a brand, or promotion is.
Who is the audience for this Toolkit?
The Toolkit is targeted at
-
Entrepreneurs, and people in the marketing domain, who want to explore social media marketing for their organization
-
Anyone, who still has second thoughts on the workability/viability of social media in their organization
Kindly note that social media usually has a much larger turn-around time, in terms of providing true measurable ROI. So anyone implementing a pilot should very clearly define KPIs (Key performance indicators), which will help them understand whether social media is working for them. Be reasonable in defining these measures, and look for trends, as you go through the implementation process. Accurate results are usually hard to predict.
What does the Toolkit contain?
The Toolkit consists of:
- Strategy documents, with detailed guidelines for effective implementation and planning
- Quick reference documents, which can be used while performing your actual implementation
-
Tutorials for step-by-step account creation and activities for specific channels (Facebook profile, Facebook pages, Twitter account, LinkedIn profile & YouTube channel)
How do I read the Toolkit?
This Toolkit is an exhaustive set of documentation, we have collated after extensive research and experience in Social Media Marketing.
Step 1: Start with reading the SMM-Guidelines document to get an overall view of Social Media Marketing. Also read the best social media sites to begin with.
Step 2: Read the blogging policy and guidelines.
Step 3: Read the channel specific documents (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Youtube, Slideshare, Flickr). Watch videos for detailed setup instructions.
Step 4: Read the Social Bookmarking document.
Step 5: Read the Online Reputation Management and Discussion Forum participation document
We wish you success as you proceed with your social media marketing implementation!!
