One of the perks of working in marketing and sales is that you get to attend a number of seminars and conferences – whether as participants or speakers. And, I have been lucky enough to do just that myself. However, what I witnessed at the Oriflame Directors Seminar in Agra recently was something I was completely unprepared for.

For one, I have never seen the participants of a seminar so charged up that they run towards the gate when the session is about to begin (of course they might be clamoring for better seats but who knows!). Never have I ever seen anyone so enthusiastic and willing to absorb new methods and ways of promoting their business. The stated aim of this Seminar, which is held for only 700 top Directors out of more than 2 lac consultants all over India, is to ‘Look Good. Make Money. Have Fun.’ And, boy! Did they do that fine!

Look at how they started every session:

And, this is the start! You had to see the JAM dancing sessions every day to believe them. Men and women from the age of 21 to 65 in a room shaking their leg to Dhinka Chika is a sight for sore eyes.

However, dance is not all they did. One of the important sessions for them all was something that we, as OMLogic, were proud to present:

Copy of Social Media for Oriflame Consultants on Prezi

Kapil Gupta and Millie Khanna presented the session and fielded questions from an enthusiastic audience over the next two days!

Once they knew the benefits of ‘Being Social’, it seemed, that’s all they wanted to do, for the most popular stall during the breaks was the ‘social media’ stall. People shared their images on the Oriflame Photo Fame app and live tweeted to see their name up on the wall.

Imagine: 700 top directors, each with an average of 200 friends on Facebook. That’s visibility potential of 140000! Talk about virality!

To add a cherry on the top, the venue was hardly 2kms away from the Taj Mahal… ‘nuff said.

If you weren’t there, do have a look at what you missed:

And join Oriflame on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Pinterest now!

It was a usual day in the office and we were all completing our tasks at hand to make room for the

training session on Pinterest. Finally, all of us gathered in the conference room and were all set for the
training to begin.

I was curious to know about Pinterest & its advantages and it was after the training by the SMM Expert at OMLogic, that the picture got clearer.

As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words; Pinterest is a great tool to enhance the Social Media
presence of a brand, with the help of pictures. I was amazed to know that Pinterest is generating more
referrals than LinkedIn, Google+ and YouTube taken together!

The brand promotion using Pinterest is highly successful because it encourages users to link back to
image’s original source. Also, the brands can leverage Pinterest by adding the ‘Pin It’ button to their
websites, which would help the website visitors share pictures from the website, on their Pinterest
accounts.

So, to me Pinterest is all about making your message and brand presence viral, through pictures!

There is much more to know about Pinterest and its advantages, and I would not like to write it all here
itself. To know more, you’ll have to check out below:

We are seated so tightly around the rectangular table in the conference room that my knees are touching those of people sitting on either side of me. We are here to listen to a presentation by the CEO of the company on ‘How to Make an Effective Presentation’.

The first thing that hit me between the eyes is the passion with which it was being imparted. A few slides down, I come to know that ‘Passion’ for the subject is a vital criterion to make a powerful presentation.

While making a presentation one has to be quite clear on the acronym WIIFY- ‘What’s In It For You’. You in this case being the audience to whom the presentation is being made.

There are Do’s and Don’ts while making a presentation and one of the essential Do’s is to limit the key decisive factors to three or four points. Because, according to research, the audience can recall only about three areas and their sub-areas.

One of the Don’ts is – never cram the slides. There is a tendency to put as much matter in each slide as possible which disrupts readability and leads to dropping of interest which leads to getting registered with the audience.

I can make out that the Presenter is well prepared by the way he is exuding competence, extroversion and sociability. And, the way he sometimes punctuates his presentation with humor, really keeps the audience interested.

Now, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. To know how you too can create wonderful presentations, you’ll have to check out below:

Statutory Warning: If you are born with a silver spoon, this article may harm your ego

Are you having a large set of friends over various social media platforms? Everything you put on these networks gets ‘Viral’ immediately? You spend more time writing Facebook posts than solving questions from your syllabus? Have your friends titled you as ‘Socially Outcast’?

If your answer is ‘Yes’ then you are most welcome to the world of Social Media and if your answer is ‘No’ then dude you better go looking for some other career option!

What Is Social Media?

Social Media is any platform, software, tool, community and technology which is used to launch a product, generate ideas, drive sales to online stores, create a community around a brand or carry out online reputation management.

Why is Everyone Getting Social?

With India emerging as one of the fastest growing nations on the Internet & Social World and also with a large ratio of youth in the population, no one wants to miss the piece of the cake! Every company which is associated with youth in any manner wants to get in touch with them at a place where they spend most of their time. The fastest way of conversation nowadays is ‘Social Media’. It is best used to build awareness and create buzz around new product launches. Social media has been defined by the companies as a low investment, high ROI tool which also leaves a greater and long lasting impact on the minds of users. Now you can see a ‘Facebook’ and ‘Twitter’ logo on almost every biggie’s advertisement. Not just businesses but various non-profit organizations and movements too are preferring social media (Remember the Anna Hazare campaign?).

What Is The Job?

At the entry level, the role of a social media executive includes:

Assisting in planning, managing and implementing the various strategic social media programmes.

Participating and initiating conversations across different channels.

Consuming, creating and sharing relevant content with internal and external communities.

Monitoring and analyzing conversations, social media activities and sharing the impact through reviews and reports.

Observing and assimilating trends in social media, tools, technology and applications and appropriately applying that knowledge in on-going/future campaigns.

That’s the initial role; anyone can define their career path once they get into the organization. A lot depends on what you want to do and what is your area of expertise. The industry is so new that many opportunities lie undiscovered. There’s vast scope to grow either into a digital planner or as a business development executive. These are just stepping stones towards higher positions.

Qualities needed to get a job

One must have a passion for the topic or cause and for social media itself. The biggest thing which can work as a plus point for anyone is that they need to be friendly, patient and responsive. If you are creative and detail oriented, and willing to mesh your personal life with professional life then social media marketing is surely your cup of tea. If you have the hunger for getting latest news from different sources and have the ability to implement it in your routine work, you surely have a great future in this field.

Today, the marketers know the edge it brings to the established brands as well as those in making. But, what does social media mean to those who are on the verge of starting their career? Do they really know about it as a viable career opportunity? Our visit to Technological Institute of Textile & Sciences, Bhiwani turned out to be a real life experience in this regard when we visited the campus to create awareness about social media.

The day began with the seminar ‘Be Social – The Indian Way’, where students were told about the power of online media. The session was attended by final year students and the alumni of the esteemed college. The auditorium with a seating capacity of 250 was jam packed with students, professors and alumni looking forward to what was coming next. The session unfolded with an introduction to Social Media and how one can influence people and win them as friends. Almost everyone was unanimously nodding to the facts being presented about what is the human behavior like when we want to win friends in person. And, then came the point that whatever Dale Carnegie preached about winning friends in person also holds true for winning friends/fans/customers over social media as well.

In simple words, the role of social media where brands can make people advocate their products and services by interacting with them in an interesting and humorous manner, was explained. Before the next session, the audience were asked some questions and those who answered them right were gifted some freebies. The second session was about how social media can help an individual fetch the right job and how they can network over various social platforms. The students were amazed to hear how Facebook, LinkedIn and various such other platforms can be used to build their career.

Post lunch started the process of campus hiring where all those students who wanted to start their career in social media enrolled with their resumes. The students were briefed about the job-profile and almost 40 engineering and management students appeared for the interview where they shared their dreams and aspirations and what they wanted to do in life. A large number of quality candidates were screened for stepping in to social media and hopefully many will soon be a part of the team at OMLogic.

Overall, it turned out that young minds need to be told more about what social media can do for them and what social media does as a part of the marketing mix of various brands and companies. A little more awareness could really bring in more talent to the social media industry.

Sitting on my work desk, feeling the winter chill and the gloomy weather; a voice of the past brightens up my day, reminding me of the ‘right’ turn life took on 10th Jan’12.

A typical Mass Communication student turned into a social media marketer, when I reached the OMLogic office that day at 8:30 am! Yes, it has made me an early riser too…!

Seems boring to you? Wait!
I get paid for browsing though Facebook and Twitter all day!
Does it sound boring now?
Believe me! OMLogic has given the best and the most interesting start to my career by making me an organized tech savvy professional…. In just a few days!

Let me take you through my last 2 weeks at OMLogic.

Assuming it to be like any other office and oblivious to the chilled out and fun work environment, I dressed up to the best of my abilities to present myself as a fresher yet professional colleague for everyone.
But, there came a twist in the tale!

The moment I entered the office, my opinion changed! One of my colleagues instead of greeting me with a crisp hand shake, saluted and said, “Ram Ram Bibiji” while getting up from his sleeping bag placed right beside the conference room’s door! This first encounter made me realize that only my work will define my persona in this particular place.

As the day passed meeting all my colleagues, I made friends (please note that there is no room for acquaintances here). The OMLogic family including everyone from Mr. Kapil Gupta (CEO) to Vicky Bhaiya and Kamla Aunty (office helpers) made a point clear to me- that this is the best working place one could ever wish for.

Moving on to the next few days, I shall just say that they have been a perfect mix of learning, hard work, humor and attempts to add logic to life.

I can just say I am lucky to be working with OMLogic and have an opportunity to work for different companies sitting under one roof! And, I can do all that without any hesitation and in my own style.

Can you ask for more?

Where do you get to drive fast cars, play FIFA with Ronaldo, kill zombies, or be a farmer?

In your favorite video games… where else!

Do you know Everquest – An MMORPG ‘Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game’ was rated as the 2nd highest addiction after drugs and it’s all online community had more users than Facebook at one time!

The question is… HOW? How an industry which has a total revenue only second to that of Hollywood do so without advertising by road sides or on television? The answer is – Online Marketing! Video gaming industry’s main target is the geek gamer youth club that spends more time on the internet than in real life. And, to catch them where they are is obviously a win-win situation!

The internet today is filled with gaming sites of all sorts! Social media platforms like Facebook also have a dedicated gaming section. The users come to these platforms, play games, go out and buy some of them or their advanced versions and that is what business is all about! There are numerous communities and forums that talk about the upcoming and current games and generate prospective customers. Blogs & articles on various games help gamers know about what to expect from a particular game. So, the whole exercise of identifying the user base, generating interest, pitching and closing the sale happens online!

Just like a trailer of a Bollywood or Hollywood movie can make audience go to the theatre, trailers of games on platforms like YouTube, GameTrailers, Metcafe, IGN actually result in sales of the respective games. Brand pages of various games and their characters on social platforms like FB and G+ ensure regular interaction with prospective and existing gamers. And, it works!

The biggest modern day example of how online marketing has done wonders for video gaming industry is the fact that the game Modern Warfare 3 in the US and UK alone sold 6.5 million copies on the first day of release as compared to the super hit movie Avatar’s first-day DVD and Blu-ray sales of over 4 million units. And, let’s not forget the fact that they spent million marketing the movie offline.

So, online marketing has done wonders for video games and it will continue to do so! So, keep surfing and keep playing!

OMLogic is a workplace where innovation & creativity is welcomed with open hands. People feel at home while working here and the day passes by in a jiffy. The cool atmosphere and great bonding between the colleagues is simply admirable. I am not saying this just for the heck of it, but it actually is like that @ OMLogic!

With awards like ‘Innovator of the Week’ or ‘Employee of the Month’, people are always geared up to give their best so that their names are added to the ‘OML Hall of Fame’. Every month, the ‘All Hands’ meeting is held wherein everyone gives their suggestions on how we can give better results to our clients. Creativity needs the right kind of atmosphere. And, OMLogic makes it a point to provide it in abundance!

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! And, OML believes in this saying completely! Work is not the only thing on our minds; off site outings where the whole office goes out and spends quality time together are very much a part of the routine! Whether it is a picnic to an adventure park or a lunch on a Friday, there is always something happening so that people can meet their colleagues on a personal note too.

Everyone at OMLogic strongly thinks that the work culture in a company is the biggest driving force for all the employees. It enables them to work with full energy and makes them passionate about their job.
Therefore, every possible care is taken to ensure that it remains a fun filled place where creative minds come together to do what is known as ‘INNOVATION’!

To sum it up, for me it’s my dream place to work at and not just me… but many of us would wish to and love to work at a place like OML.
